Permanent Lighting

It's definitely all the rage in exterior home lighting these days! And lots of people have lots of questions. We'll try to answer all of those here.

The Lowdown on Permanent Lighting

You've probably seen or heard about permanent lights at this point and are wondering if these are for you or your business.  We'll try to give you as much information as possible here so we can help you with your decision.  Often people are trying to decide between temporary holiday lights and permanent lighting.  As a general rule of thumb we say that the permanant lights will cost around 3 times as much as the seasonal lights. So if you're looking to put lighting on your home for multiple years you may want to consider the permanant lights. One of the neatest things about the permanent lights is all of the options! These are not just holiday or special event lighting. These are beautiful landscape lights as well.

How do you know which brand is the best or best for you? There's no one right answer to this question. There are a handful of companies whose products are better than other companies. But sometimes the decision comes down to features.  We've spent a decent amount of time and money traveling to various cities around the US to get trained on a couple of different permanent light companies. Most companies require a company like ours to get trained and get a certificate of completion from them to be able to buy and install their products.  Companies that don't require certification are Everlights, Jellyfish, Oelo, Minleon and Govee. We happen to like OMNI RGB Lights the best. This company is located in North Carolina. OMNI has a chip in it that no other company in the market currently has, or will have for the next 2 years.  The chip does give OMNI lights a competitive advantage and in our opinion a superior product.  And when it comes to lighting OMNI has the highest level of light saturation in the market.

Currently Govee is the most popular DIY choice. Lots of people know about Govee so I'll use that to do some comparisons. You can buy Govee at Best Buy and probably Amazon. It is a DIY choice, but we do get at least 2 calls a week with people asking if we can install their Govee lights so I'm thinking installation may not be easy. Installation is one of the reasons for the cost of permanent lighting. It is not a quick or easy process. Depending on the size of your home or business installation for a 2 man team can take 1-3 days. The St. Louis Cardinals are currently having OMNI lights installed. This project is taking many crews several weeks.  Govee has a lifetime light rating at 50,000 hours. OMNI's lifetime light rating is 100,000 hours. Govee Lights are spaced every 18.5", creating the V shapes on homes when the lights are turned on. OMNI is spaced at 8", which gives complete lighting saturation on the front of homes or businesses.

Permanent lights can be programmed. An app will be downloaded onto your phone when you get lights installed. Omni's app is very easy to use (even a 77 year old woman was able to use it.) Omni has over 300 different colors available. There are preprogrammed light sequences, or you can create and save your own. It can be very entertaining and creative to play with these lights and if you love colors this can become addictive. So many of these lighting companies just have the option of cool or warm light. Omni has a whole white light spectrum allowing you to select color and shading. They have some beautiful colors in a beige and tan lighting that is beautiful on a home.
